1st Myanmar Traditional Wedding at Villa de Bua “I’m gonna definitely be recommend the venue to other couples”

Today, it’s our pleasure to interview our gorgeous Burmese bride. Let’s enjoy her story and hear her lovely feedback.

1. What made you choose Villa de Bua for your wedding? Did you visit or consider other venues before making your decision?

Yes. For me, I check 4 different venues. I checked more than 4 via online, but then I did 4 venue inspections. Villa de Bua is one of them.

For me, I chose Villa de Bua because I feel like it matched my vibe. I like the architecture of the venue. It’s a very cosy and cute venue for me.

I also checked the hotels as well. Before I came to visit Villa de Bua, I didn’t plan to choose Villa de Bua as my priority. It is just one of the options. But when I get there, I feel like this is where I want to get married.

2. Do you have any idea for your wedding?

Initially, I didn’t plan to do the Myanmar traditional one. Then on the halfway, I was like let’s just do Myanmar traditional one since I’ve been out of home for almost a decade.

I stayed here in Thailand for very long. So, I miss some of the essence of Myanmar. So I just want to do a traditional Myanmar wedding, but it’s gonna be a bit difficult because we don’t have tools and resources here.

But somehow, I was like, it’s gonna be an intimate wedding. It’s a small wedding, so we will try to manage with whatever resources we have in Thailand. That’s what I plan to do. Then, I talked to my planner about it.

Is it difficult for you to invite the guests to your wedding in Thailand?

For me, I’ve been staying here for almost a decade, so I have some friends here. A lot of people on that day are living in Thailand.

There are people from Thailand, but half of the guests, I have to invite from Myanmar or like other locations. Then, I have to provide some transportation and accommodation for them as well. That’s the challenge.

3. How’s our service and support on your wedding?

It’s very helpful for me because the wedding was very difficult. I had to get some furniture from Myanmar.

The most frustrating thing is that after I found out the size of the furniture, I needed to extend the stage because the stage is a bit small for my furniture. Villa de Bua always supports our requests.

Before the wedding day, we ordered some stuffs and sent them directly to the venue. Villa de Bua supported us by taking care of all things. I don’t need to worry about picking them up by myself at the venue.

I added many things just one month before my wedding but Villa de Bua team can make it happen. For the catering, I add more items for the catering as well because I get frustrated when the day is close.

No results found.

4. What type of catering did you choose for your wedding, and what feedback did you receive from your guests?

For the catering, the food was very nice. That is one of my biggest concerns because I wish to do the best thing for my guests.

Somehow, everyone likes the food, like the decoration, they are complimenting me a lot about choosing this. So I’m quite happy with that. The food is amazing. It’s very tasty.

I chose a table setting for reception. Actually, I thought I’m gonna just have 100-150 guests. But in the real day, I have more than 180 people. So that’s a lot of people and it’s a bit tight inside.

Overall, I am very happy about the course menu and also like the canape snacks. Everything related to food. It’s perfect.

5. For wedding decoration, How did you feel when you first saw the ceremony setup and decorations?

The decoration matched what I required. I’m satisfied with the decoration. People are happy as well.

We give them the theme to match with the decoration. On that day, everyone takes photos and they’re very happy. Everything they wear matches the theme.

They also said that the decorations are very beautiful. They enjoy it when they see all the flowers that match their clothing.

6. Could you please share a bit of your traditional wedding?

Actually, in Myanmar, there are different ways to do the traditional wedding. The one that doesn’t take very long and like mine, the proper one. It takes around 45 minutes because we have a series of ceremonies.

You have to pray, you have to be blessed by the elders. And like we have some water pouring ceremony. This is a very traditional one. Normally people don’t choose this way to be married because it takes time.

We have to go out with our parents. Then we have to pray and get blessed by elders. The elderly couple needs to have a good marriage life, life long years of marriage. Get blessed by those people who have that.

We need to get the garland from the other couple for ring exchange from that couple as well. Some people do it with 3 different couples. But for me, I just request for like 2 couples.

7. Were there any special gimmicks or unique elements at your wedding?

My wedding itself, it’s unique because it wasn’t very easy for all of us to prepare for this.

Normally, people use gold or yellow in their wedding because it’s a colour that represents grace and luck. But I couldn’t use any yellow because astrologers recommended that we have to use the colour blue.

Because in Myanmar, before you get married, you need to check the dates and stuff like that with astrologers. My astrologer said we cannot use any yellow tone. I have to omit that yellow tone and then use blue instead.

So the problem is those tools, the tools that we use for the ceremony we have in Thailand but they only have gold colour. So I have to bring everything from Myanmar. And the process of preparing the wedding was very challenging.

Even your team, you have put the extension and like everything for us. Not only do we want carpet. So like you have to make the carpet on the floor.

But at the end of the day. It looks very beautiful, I didn’t expect it. I was very happy to see. It’s not a traditional way of decoration. but it really matched the style that I preferred.

In Myanmar, the traditional way is to have a lot of flowers and then like a lot of structure on the stage, but I don’t like it. I like the stage that I have at Villa de Bua and the decorations that I chose.

My favourite colour is blue. The backdrop is very beautiful. The stage is also very beautiful. We were worried that we might not have space for flowers. That’s why I asked p’Kaew not to put any flowers.

8. Do you have any advice for couples who are planning their wedding?

For me I prepare ahead of time like 10 months, but still facing a lot of problems. And also, you need a good planner, if you think you cannot handle the stress.

For me, the venue, the catering, the decoration, everything is perfect.

You know, the happiest thing, the nicest thing for my wedding is I chose your venue Villa de Bua because I don’t have to be worried about those things, but I have to handle every other stuff. Villa de Bua really helped a lot.

9. Could you please share some of your most memorable moments from the wedding day?

I had a good time with my family and then my close friends and colleagues. That’s a great memory for me. One funny thing is that this is pretty new for foreign friends. They don’t know how Burmese weddings work.

Most of the guests, I have foreign friends and also I have some Thai friends.

They’re very confused when the 1st MC comes out from the room. They think he’s a Groom. They take photos of that MC a lot.

Then the real groom comes, that’s a very funny moment. MC normally is an old person. But this one, he looks pretty young. That’s a memorable moment for me.

10. Would you recommend Villa de Bua to other couples?

Yes, sure, because I always talk about the venue, whenever I talk about my wedding, because the venue itself is very lovely and also I feel like the team is very supportive and you get everything you need.

It’s convenient. So I want other people to have this kind of experience as well. I’m gonna definitely recommend the venue to other couples.
